Success- whither you tantalizing mistress?
My friends and relatives often make fun of me for my spiritual approach towards life. Well, I have dared to be different by becoming a graphic design is and moving to London to make it big. Of course, this is easier said than done. Many people are struggling to make their mark despite being very talented. The worst part is that I cannot even know whether I am a part of the talented group or not. My work is praised to the skies on some occasions and this often gives me the confidence that the next big break is just around the corner.
On the other hand, there have been times when my graphic designs have been rejected outright. Needless to say, I cannot rate my abilities and skills on the basis of what others say. This is the reason why I developed a spiritual outlook towards life. There are many graphic designers in the market who have made it big simply because they were in the right place at the right time. This may apply to me as well if I make it big in a year or two. In such a scenario, I feel it is important to understand the inherent unpredictability of it all.
It is never dependent on talent alone. Can you say that every successful person you have met is talented and deserving of the success? Well, there is no way I can say that each and every advertisement that I see on pop up display has been made by a graphic designer who truly deserved the break that he or she got. In such a scenario, a spiritual and detached attitude towards life can make a huge difference.
Some confuse my spiritual approach with religion. These are two completely different things. Spiritual discipline helps me console myself when I face failure and helps me stay under control when I meet success.
