I’m All For Minimalism!

I wonder why it is that most of us insist on filling our homes with clutter. The more knick-knacks we have lying around, the more work it generates! It’s common sense really, isn’t it?

If we have lots of different ornaments to put out on display then we need to get more shelves and surfaces to keep them on. That is more work to begin with. And when it comes to dusting everything it can be an absolute nightmare; especially if we have lots of really delicate items such as glass or china.

The problem is that ornaments and knick-knacks tend to breed very easily! Every Christmas or birthday is a prime time to be given more and we will even buy them for ourselves when we go away somewhere for our holiday! Well, I have had enough; I am now officially at war with any purposelessness items of ornamentation! It’s either that or I will end up having to sell my flat so I can move into a sparsely decorated monastery. The whole with knick-knacks is driving me nut-nacks!!!

Although, I could be wrong, I suppose. Perhaps we buy keepsakes to remind us of where we have been… or maybe shop owners just realise how easy it is to sucker a tourist into buying something they do not even want! We don’t really need souvenirs to stop us forgetting about our holiday, do we?

Maybe we are all just compulsive collectors by nature. It would certainly explain why we fill our homes with all sorts of items simply because they are ‘nice to have’.
